
MEET TOM KLOZA
As the key principal, Tom Kloza has long been recognized as one of the most well-known petroleum analysts in the world with nearly 50 years of hands-on experience. He began his career at Oil Buyers Guide in 1975 and was among the founders of OPIS - the Oil Price Information Service in December 1980. He worked with the early pioneers of the New York Mercantile Exchange when they launched the first energy futures in 1978. Tom gained special acclaim 10 years ago when he predicted sharply lower crude oil prices in 2014 and 2015. He has continued to render accurate observations and predictions on all things oil from the wellhead to the pump. His contacts in North American petroleum markets are unparalleled, and he has been a thought leader on futures, wholesale prices and retail price swings. In portions of six decades in petroleum supply, Tom has exclusively broken news stories on multiple refinery sales, including transactions in California, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Louisiana and Texas. He has also been at the forefront of North American mergers and acquisitions, with expert commentary on market dynamics for refiners, terminal operators, distributors, retailers, and consumers.

Tom earned a Bachelor of English from St. Francis University in 1975 and has worked with the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard University. Tom boasts relationships with energy regulators, private equity, oil investors, refiners, traders, speculators and marketers with prescient comments on all elements of the petroleum supply chain. He served on the Board of Advisors of Turner Mason Consulting as well as the Board of Advisors for the Transportation Energy Institute.
Tom’s projections on retail gasoline machinations have been relied upon by the top corporate and government entities in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. His work with OPIS through nearly 45 years saw him cover and analyze price and supply movements for nearly all hydrocarbon molecules as well as renewable fuels.
